About Us

The Hope Center’s mission is to help our neighbors in need by providing supplemental groceries through a food pantry serving the Monterey Peninsula. The organization provides information regarding community services, and empowers our children by giving them opportunities to work and learn about hunger and to make our world a better place. The organization serves any family in need and that includes their pets!
The Hope Center believes when a family is hungry everyone suffers.

Do you know the difference between a food pantry and food bank?
A food pantry is an agency that distributes groceries directly to individuals and families in need. A food bank is the food pantry's food pantry. It is a large warehouse facility that collects, sorts and equitably distributes all types of food to pantries, shelters, community meal programs and other 501 (c)(3) charitable social service organizations that may offer a meal with their programming. A food bank does not typically provide assistance directly to the public.

We have the support of the following local non-profit and government organizations:

Monterey County Food Bank, Ag Against Hunger, Monterey County Housing Authority, YWCA, Boys and Girls Club,
Community Foundation of Monterey, 211 (United Way), SPCA, Local private and public schools

1 in 5 people in Monterey County needs food assistance, and thousands of pets each year end up in shelters due to the rising costs of care.

You can send your tax deductible donations, and make checks payable, to: Hope Center Monterey, 150A Mar Vista Drive, Monterey, CA 93940

Your donations will go directly to helping us stock our pantry with non-perishable food items, fresh produce and dairy items (when available), as well as toiletries, baby supplies, and dog and cat food. Our goal is to keep families and their pets together, even in times of need.

One hundred percent of your donations are used for food, pet food, pet items, toiletries, and baby items, and our non-profit is run completely by volunteers.

Wishing you Peace on Earth
and Food For All

Business Sponsorship Information

We are sure you are aware of the growing number of people in need right here in Monterey County. We think you will be surprised to know that just in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District alone there are 6,007 children on the free and reduced lunch program.

We need to help families in these uncertain times.

We are currently looking for local businesses to help sponsor our food pantry. We are supplying food collected and purchased by generous donors, but we also need businesses in Monterey County to get behind this program. If you decide to sponsor the Hope Center Monterey, we will put your business logo on our website and our Facebook page, along with promoting your business at every opportunity.
